The instrument rating allows the pilot to fly when the weather is below the minimums for flying visually. Most professional pilots agree that the instrument rating is one of the most important ratings a pilot can have. It will raise your skills and awareness to a new level. During your training you will learn how to control and navigate without being able to look outside the aircraft. Near the end of your training you will depart for California on an IFR flight plan where you could quite possibly encounter instrument conditions.
